Tunica County NAACP

 

 

 

 

 

 

I guess the old saying that the good always finish last is true here in Tunica County. Or should I say the Northern part of the county. At least it seems that way for the citizens in Robinsonville.

 

For 5 years now they have asked the Board of Supervisors to put into the County budget the funds for a community center in Robinsonville. Again today, September 8, 2009, they were rejected.

 

Like Mr. James Dunn told them.."Seems like some prejudice is being shown...Myself and my community are being discriminated against and we don't like that."..Now of course they would never admit that they don't like us...so they keep using the same old line of BS "There is no money." What do you think...??? I'll elaborate more on that at the end of my article..So keep reading..it only gets better...

 

I know that the white board members don't want me to put the facts on here but I am anyway...Who cares..?  So if I come up missing or years from now I am found at the cutoff with concrete shoes on my feet you guys please make sure that you notify my family. The community needs to know what is going on..and maybe, just maybe, everyone will open their eyes and start to think down the road of who can replace these incompetent, racist board members when election time rolls around.

 

Well let's start with Paul Battle...Everytime I attend board meetings you can look at him and tell that he doesn't care if he's there or not. He always seems to have better things to do. Maybe his catfish need his attention huh? He is constantly looking at his watch which tells me that he has other places to be instead of there. The county's business should be his top priority but evidentally it's not. He has NEVER ONCE voted for any project that Mr. Dunn has put on the table for the northern part of the county. He only thinks about himself. Not the people in his district. Wake up everyone, there is more to life than catfish and broken promises. Once this man gets your vote, you are an outcast, he don't care about you and your well being.

 

Besides catfish farming what does he do here in the county...?? Other than work his employees fingers down to the bone for little or no pay. Sure Battle Arena has his name...but that can happen to anyone if you got the money and kiss enough butt here in this county....But how many of us have cows and horses??  DUH...so let's face it...that facility is for the white people of the county..Just as he had it planned.

 

He feels that when election time comes around all he has to do is have a fish fry in the parking lot of Antioch church and fill his voters stomachs with fish, beer and whiskey...Come on Battle..on a church ground. You got to be kidding me..It is SO disrespectful to carry on like this on church property. How much respect is he showing you?  Open your eyes people and start searching for someone to replace him. I am sure there is a reliable candidate out there somewhere..Who ever you are...I will support you. I think I need to make a call and ask the pastor there why he would allow such hideous events to take place on land that should be representing the Lord.

 

Paul Battle, we know you have certain people in this county...just like us if you get my drift... in your pocket..but beware...you never know when they will turn their back on you, especially if we put their backs up against the wall. We are aware that everytime something goes down these SNITCHES run to you and tell you everything that is going on..You stick a few dollars in their pocket, pat them on the back, say good job and I'll see later..We've known the game that you have been playing. Don't you ever forget that we have SNITCHES out there as well. You never know who you are talking to..How do you think we get our information about you..Think about it...We're coming full force..so watch your back..

 

Now let's look at Cedric Burnett....Alot of respect was lost for Cedric today when he cursed out Earl Hendricks in front of several pastors that were in attendance at the board meeting. If Eugene Bridges hadn't stepped in between Earl and Cedric we would have had another rumble on the river. Wouldn't that have been wonderful? An Ex Vietnam combat veteran against a mortician...I would have loved to have seen that one. And believe me, I would have put my money on Earl. He may be a senior citizen but just remember Cedric...those Vietnam vets still suffer from shell shock and can kick some butt.

 

Well it seems like Cedric only cares about you when you are dead..Honey all I can say is that it's to late then. I can't hear a word you are saying while I lay there in the $10,000 bronze casket that you have over-charged my family for. Some say he is the best mortician in the state, to bad I will never find out, but Cedric I hate to tell you this...you stink at being a supervisor. You are another one that is constantly looking at your watch during board meetings, but what really gets me is that you sit there and pass little notes across the table and send text messages, from your cell phone when you should be paying attention to what is happening around the table. No wonder this county is so SCREWED up with guys like this leading the bandwagon. Take care of your business before you enter the board room. The people that are at your funeral home are not going anywhere. I can promise you that. They will wait on you.

 

You guys act like Henderson Funeral Home is the only one in Tunica County...Well surprise, surprise, surprise, IT'S NOT. He is burying you now and will do so again when it's time for you to leave here. I don't know about you but I don't want to be buried more than once. For all the residents out there that have a burial policy with him..change it...If you need help contact us and we will help you...

 

My sources are telling me that he doesn't live in Tunica county. He's in Memphis. Isn't that illegal.??? If you are representing this county aren't you suppose to reside here? Sure he supposedly has a house at 1370 Beatline Road, but we all know that it's in Clara's name. No one in his beat has a contact number for him. So if you run across a problem sorry people, I can't tell you how to contact him. Guess you'll have to install a GPS on his vehicle to find out where he is...Cedric, why are you so scared for your people, who put you in office, to have your contact information? OH..and the truck that is sitting in front of your house on Beatline Road, you know the one that has BAM on the tags, it's been there so long that it is probably going to need a battery when you decide to crank it up again. I'd take care of that ASAP..never know when you will have to get out of DODGE quickly.

 

Now let's look at Billy Pegram....Poor man...his daughters are riding his back so hard he needs a saddle and an oatbag..they want daddy to give money for the dog kennel, dog food, dog care, etc. He don't know which way to go. When he turns one way James Dunn is there wanting his community center and when he turns the other way Paul Battle is yelling at him telling him to hit the gavel and restore peace in the board meetings..Well if the county is broke then how in the world can you justify spending money on animals before people? We have hungry kids out here that also need to be taken care of. Dundee has about 4 kids around their community center..while Robinsonville has over 550 kids without a community center..Now does this make any sense to you? When he wanted to spend the money to build the center in Dundee all supervisors voted yes..

 

And who is the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Billy...You or Paul Battle? After seeing what I saw today Paul Battle has alot of control over you..He should have the gavel and not you...Get some balls and do your job. Stop letting everyone else tell you what to do and how to do it. Oh..and by the way..I found it a bit distasteful today when you were rude to Pastor Hubbard. She was trying to ask a question and you treated her like she wasn't there...But I guess you guys wished she wasn't there as well as all the others that showed up and chewed your ass out..I could see all of you shaking in your boots. You don't have to be scared of us...JUST DO THE RIGHT THING AND MAKE IT RIGHT and we will go away. You know they always say that you don't want to get a mob of black people mad at you. No telling what they might do. So keep shaking in your boots. I'm glad that we have put the fear in you.

 

Now for Bobby Williams...

Bobby I thought that blood was RED, but BOY when Mr. Price told you off today in the meeting it sure looked like all of your blood rushed to your face. I have never seen someone that red before in my life. You feel alright now Bobby?..Had me worried there for a minute..Thought we were going to have to call the ambulance service over to give you some oxygen and check your blood pressure. Seems like someone else was worried also...they slipped and made that call to Sandy today so she would come over and try to save your ass from the angry people at the board meeting. Can't you stand up for yourself....instead of having to pull the wife in on the situation. She's not a board member..let her try to keep selling homes and watering the dogs and you take care of business at hand for the county. Wonder who wears the pants in this household?

 

Well all of us know that Bobby has a furniture store in downtown Tunica...and some of us have even seen the apartment that is upstairs...Know what I mean ladies...Most of us have bought from him, simply because we feel like we don't have a choice. From this day forward we are asking you to take your business elsewhere. He is over charging you number one and he sure in HELL is not your friend.. Why pay $800 dollars for a washer when you can go to Southaven or Memphis and get it for $300 or a little more. He is ripping you off left and right..Wake up and smell the coffee. If he don't care about you and support your needs then why should you put money in his pocket and support him. We have to start showing people that if you don't support us then we sure are not going to support you. One way to get to a man is through his pockets. His wife Sandy Williams is a real estate agent...if you are planning on selling a house or buying one....call someone else...She is also riding his back about this dog kennel. Again our children come first before your puppies. (There is alot more I could say about BW but I'll keep that to myself until I have to pull the rabbit out of my hat.)

 

Now lets look at some other FACTS about Tunica County that have been pushed under the rug for to long. Hey...it's about time we talk about these problems and face them together.

 

Take our sheriff for instance. We have ask the board many times to give him a raise. K.C. Hamp is over worked and under payed. He is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He has always supported our functions and attends when he can. When we need him he is always there for us. His responsibilities are never ending...especially when it comes to dealing with the people here in Tunica County. We had a school supertiendent, Jerry Gentry, that was making $106,000 a year before he offically retired earlier this year, but still in office drawing a pension and salary, but our sheriff is at $65,000. What kind of sense does that make? K.C. works alot harder than Gentry ever has or will. Plus there are others at the sheriff's office that make more than K.C. and you know who I am talking about. I don't have to call names, but I will if you want me to. And could someone please tell me why in the HELL we get all of Clarksdale's rejects. If they can't make it there then why on God's green earth would we want them here...Oh...let me guess. It's who you know, who's butt you kiss, and how well you take orders from others that live in Tunica County...WITH MONEY....am I RIGHT????  Am I offending anyone yet..Am I hitting close to home yet? If so then you must know that I am talking about you...Keep reading...You may see your name on here. It's show and tell time now. Or maybe put up or shut up.

 

The ENTIRE Board in exception to Mr. Dunn is gung-ho on the airport..WHY??? The question all of you should be asking is "What Have You Done For Me Lately?" That airport is used only by the Casino Industry. They bring in their HIGH ROLLERS from other states. Your TAX DOLLARS are being spent to support mostly HARRAH'S. Aren't you tired of this mess?  They are planning on spending another $10 Million dollars on this airport. This is ridiculous..but we keep sitting back and allowing all of this nonsense to continue.  Well people, let's just pack our suitcase, and go out to the airport and see if we can get on one of those flights. I DON'T THINK SO...Besides...None of these flights go to the Bahamas, Jamaica, or the Virgin Islands. Just Vegas, Biloxi, or Atlantic City. We would be wasting our time.

 

There are flyers being mailed out to people all over this area that are finally telling the truth about the casinos here in Tunica County. Have you received one in the mail yet? Well at first everyone thought they were coming from the Union located here that represents Harrah's Properties. Well I found out today that they are coming from the UAW union. They are going to be representing the dealers at Harrah's and also are getting their foot in the door for the hybrid plant that is supposedly coming to Robinsonville. I'll post more when I find out.

 

While we are talking on the subject of Harrah's let me shed some light on a meeting that we had with them a few weeks ago. We approached them hoping that they would consider getting involved in the northern part of the county and help us provide some amentities for the community. Well again we hit a wall. Nothing that shocked any of us. But what did hit home with me was when Scott Barber and Valerie Morris sit there and told us to form another committee and come back to see them. Now I took that as "Leave the NAACP out of this." No way...sorry..They offered us a bus to take our children from Robinsonville to G.W. Henderson Rec. Do we look crazy? I wanted to tell them that with their track record with buses I wouldn't put one of mine on a Harrah's bus. Seems you guys have a little bit of trouble staying on the road. Well do you blame me? It's the truth..Right? They must think we are back in the days when the white man offered us 40 acres and a mule to go away...Well we are not going away but I would take the 40 acres if the offer arose.

 

Do you guys know that Tunica National is costing this county over $1 million dollars a year and we see none of the profits? You heard me right.. The company that manages the property gets all the money. Now tell me why we would keep forking out money to them and not get anything in return.? Now remember that I told you earlier that the county has no money..At least that is what they are trying to tell us...Well guess what???...

 

They just approved today in the budget to fork out another $10,800 to Tunica National to put GPS on the golfcarts. WHAT???????????????? You heard me right....GPS on a golf cart...Hell I don't even have one on my car..I could care less if I get lost or not..Sometimes maybe that is just what I want...Sooner or later I am sure I will find my way home...But if you have a logical explanation of why in the world would they need GPS on a golf cart I would like to hear it. Are you telling me that the RICH WHITE MEN that play golf over there get lost on the golf course and can't find their way back home?.And they say we are dumb..Come on people..Feed that line of CRAP to someone that is going to believe you. Most of us don't even own a set of golfclubs.. Sorry Tiger...forgot about you. And if you ask me it is one of the most stupidest games they have ever invented. Who cares about hitting a little ball into a hole..Goes to show you that they have nothing better to do. Hey. Move to Tunica County, we'll find something to occupy your time..HUMMMMM....this property would make a good location for the Robinsonville Community Center. Just give us the property...

 

Now lets look at the Tunica Riverpark. How many of you have taken that boat ride down Old Man River?  Not many of us..Well I have to say that I did get on it..but only because I had family here from out of town and there was nothing else to do. The walk down the ramp almost killed me, Then you get on and they take you up river and tell you about the casinos..what a thrill. NO..what a bore..If you live here you know how Fitzgerald's overlooks the Mississippi. And honestly do you care? I really have a problem getting on a boat with no life preserves, and no life rafts. Wonder if it springs a leak. You are just doomed. and Lord when it was over and I had to walk back up I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I was huffing like an old steam engine by the time I got back up top...Never again... To be honest with you most of us could care less about that boat. Most of us can't swim and the closest to the water we get is about 10 feet from the bank when we toss our poles in to try and catch some fish. Here we go again..A waste of money and a waste of time...This is for tourist..not for the people in the community.

 

 

It seems that I have hit the nail on the head with my article. I've gotten alot of positive emails but alot of negative ones as well.

 

One email that I want to share with everyone is the one that I received from a pastor that preaches in a pulpit here in Tunica County on Sundays and works here during the week but calls Memphis home. I won't call his name but if he pushes my buttons I will expose his identity. After all this is being called "TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES."

 

His first email he says "I  joined the NAACP because I am a change agent. Growing up in this community I saw first hand the plight of the poor and downtrodden. I felt the pain of the have and have not. Many talk about education, health-care, juvenile justice but they really don't want it. Internal oppression is yet alive."  Then he goes on to take up for Cedric Burnett and his wrong doings at the Board of Supervisors meeting. Now we know how these incompetent people keep getting in office.

 

I responded back to this pastor and told him of my struggles in life...You would think being a pastor that he would care...Don't be fooled by a sheep in wolves clothing..

All I can say is that if you make things right then you have nothing to worry about, but when you lie, cheat, and steal you have everything to worry about. I'm tired of being closed mouth about what I see and experience in this county. I know alot of you are scared to say what you feel or know and I also know that alot of you are in positions to where you can't express your feelings about the truth of what is going on.

 

With every truth you speak I understand there are consequences that you must pay. For every road that you travel there are bumps and curves that you must manuver. I love my community. I want to see us all live together as brothers and sisters. If I have to face this long road by myself and take the lashes for everyone else I am willing to do that if it will bring some peace and understanding.
